So you’ve got a screen and a dream.

Maybe you’re worried this whole “digital signage” thing requires a tech degree, a shaman, or at least someone who remembers their Wi-Fi password. Don’t sweat it — we built aesend to be stupidly simple (in the smartest way possible). In fact, setting up your first sign is easier than assembling IKEA furniture — and way more satisfying. Let’s get you from blank screen to “whoa, that looks amazing!”

The aesend Commissioning application allows you to transform any minimum-spec Windows PC into a dedicated aesend player device. Using this software is the recommended method for quickly and easily creating your own player device. If you wish to simply download the latest version of our player software only, click here.

The commissioning application will use a new user account, created by and specified by you, to host the dedicated player environment.

To begin the process, log into your Windows PC under an admin account and follow the instructions below:

NOTE: The following steps typically work smoother if you are not connected to the internet. The aesend player profile should be a “local account” on this PC.  Having the PC offline will limit the attempts by Microsoft to have you enter Microsoft account information.

On the Windows® device to be commissioned:

  1. Click the Windows Icon (Start Menu)
  2. Type “users” into the search bar
  3. Click “Add, edit, or remove other users”
  4. Click “Add someone else to this PC”
  5. Click “I don’t have this person’s sign-in information”
  6. Click “Add a user without a Microsoft account”

Comm Inst 6

7. Provide a user name in the prompt. Leave the password blank.

8. Click on “Next”

9. Sign in to the new account

10 Configure the new user settings as necessary.

11. Download & Run the commissioning.exe app in the new user account.

      • You may be prompted to provide admin credentials several times during this process. Please provide these credentials to ensure the commissioning app works correctly.
      • After configuration is complete, it is recommended that you use cntrl/alt/delete and restart the device.  This cleans things up and allows the player to do a fresh re-launch of the aesend player application.

You’re ready for the final steps when your screen displays a pairing code.

In the aesend® webapp:

12. On a separate device, open a web browser and log in to webapp.aesend.com

13. Navigate to the “Screens” page.

14. Click on the “+” symbol in the upper right section of the “Screens” page to create a new screen.

15. Enter the information for your new screen, including the PAIRING CODE displayed on your digital sign and click “Save.”

16. Find your new screen in the list of screens, assign a default playlist for the new screen from the dropdown menu, and click “Publish.”

You did it! Your new Digital Sign will play shortly.

NOTE: In most situations, playback will begin fairly quickly. However, new playlists require all media files to be downloaded locally on the player device. The time this takes will vary based on download speeds, file sizes, and number of items. Be patient, but if the device does not begun playing within a reasonable amount of time (perhaps as much as 1 hr), a restart of the device may be necessary. If problems persist please feel free to contact us.
